The Year of the Dragon (February 10th)
The Year of the Dragon invites us to look at our relationship with this mythical, yet illusory creature and our fighting of illusory battles and our defending of illusory territory. Yet as the most powerful animal in the Chinese zodiac, we can retain some of the Dragon qualities of power, domination, arrogance and breathing fire by moderating them in the real world. So power and domination becomes working in partnership with others, arrogance becomes humility and breathing fire becomes a soft exhale of release at last. Although not traditionally the case, it could be seen that dragons perhaps represent fear, yet all that huffing and puffing just comes to nothing. May the Year of the Dragon offer an opportunity to acknowledge the illusory nature and counter-productivity of fear. What would your life be like without it? Happy New Year!
